ENCC Chairman Participates in Roundtable and BRICS New Development Bank Conference in Egypt

Mr. Seif Allah Fahmy, Chairman of the Board of Directors, participated June 10th in the roundtable titled "New Development Bank: Towards a New Economic Partnership." The roundtable was chaired by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation and Egypt's Alternate Governor at the New Development Bank (NDB), and featured Anil Kishora, Vice President and Chief Risk Officer of the NDB. The event also included participation from various private sector representatives and Egyptian think tanks, including Osama El-Gohary, Assistant to the Prime Minister and Head of the Information and Decision Support Center, and Dr. Samir Sabry, Rapporteur of the National Dialogue Committee for Domestic and Foreign Investment.
The roundtable served as the opening event for the anticipated conference "Achievements Towards New Horizons," which will take place on June 11-12, 2024, in Egypt's New Administrative Capital.
Discussions at the Roundtable: June 10, 2024
Today's roundtable provided a vital platform for initial discussions on strategic cooperation between the New Development Bank (NDB) and the Egyptian economy. The key topics discussed included:
- Infrastructure Development: Exploring how the NDB can support Egypt's infrastructure projects, including transportation, energy, and urban development, to enhance economic competitiveness.
- Sustainable Development: Discussing collaborative efforts in renewable energy, water management, and environmental conservation in line with Egypt's sustainable development goals.
- Economic Diversification: Identifying potential initiatives to diversify Egypt's economy by developing sectors such as technology, manufacturing, and tourism.
- Capacity Building: Highlighting the importance of workforce development and how the NDB can support training programs to enhance skills in both the public and private sectors.
The ENCC's participation in the conference, represented by Mr. Seif Allah Fahmy, will continue over the next two days, contributing to discussions on enhancing economic partnerships and leveraging NDB resources for Egypt's development.

The first day of the conference will include:
- Opening Session: Keynote speeches by Ms. Dilma Rousseff, President of the NDB, and H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation.
- Panel I: Egypt's Blueprint for Pathways Towards Growth and Investment: Discussions on Egypt's strategies for economic growth and investment, moderated by Mr. Akef Maghraby, CEO of Suez Canal Bank.
- Panel II: NDB and Leveraging Investment for Egypt’s Sustainable Development Strategies: Presentations by NDB officials on investment opportunities in sustainable development.
The second day, June 12, 2024, will feature:
- Panel III: Egypt as a Connectivity Hub: Examining Egypt’s role in global trade and logistics, with insights from key industry leaders.
- Panel IV: Enhancing Global Development through South-South Cooperation: Discussions on how South-South cooperation can drive global development, featuring representatives from international organizations and development banks.
Enhancing cooperation between the New Development Bank and the Egyptian economy represents a significant step towards driving sustainable growth, improving infrastructure, and diversifying the economy, positioning Egypt as a key player in the global economic landscape.
